A French inspired smokey eye
The French do a smokey eye so well. Fact. The likes of Charlotte Gainsbourg and Caroline De Maigret are the epitome of French style and know all too well about a classic smokey eye. Instead of perfectly blended smokey eyes which many favour, the French add a standardised air of mysteriousness to their version of the smokey eye look. For those who aren’t too adventurous with eye makeup, don’t shy away from a smokey eye. This is a look that is timeless and incredibly easy to replicate. Rimming your eyes with smoke will make them pop with the perfect combination of casual intensity and sexiness. Scroll below for some the simplest of tips, that will help you achieve this effortlessly low maintenance chic look. Tip 1: Don’t use powder Instead of powder, use creamy based shadow to kohl pencil. You want a creamy consistency to give your eyes a bit of dewiness. Powders can be too complicated, remember we want to keep things low maintenance! Tip 2: Use as little products as possible.. Really, literally as littles as possible. You want your smoky eye to look a little messy, it doesn’t have to be perfect. All you need to create a perfectly imperfect smoky eye is a kohl pencil, mascara and your fingers. It’s literally that low maintenance. Tip 3: Scribble your lids with eyeliner Apply the kohl eyeliner at the roots of your eyelashes, which will make them appear darker and more full. Then, simply scribble your eyeliner all over your whole lid and blend it with your finger, ensuring to blend it up and outwards for a subtle smokey effect. Then, apply your mascara and clean up any mess. Tip 4: Don’t limit yourself to black.. If a black smokey eye is too intense for you, you can try other colours that will give you just as much ‘je ne sais quoi’, as black smokey eyes. Also, don’t limit yourself to using a kohl eyeliner, you can use cream based eyeshadows which will give you the same effect. Tip 5: Warm it up.. This last tip isn’t necessary, however, if your feel like your smoky eye is a bit too drastic or flat, simply blend a little bronzer on the edges (where you’ve dabbed out the smokey eye). This will instantly warm up your smokey eye.
