A Lazy Girl’s Guide to Detoxing
When we hear the word ‘detox’, words like ‘blending’, ‘juicing’, ‘spinach’, ‘kale’ (the list goes on), spring to mind. If you’re anything like us, we just don’t have time to be pulsing and blending beets and kale. With this is mind, we came up with a time friendly way to detox that won’t burn a hole in your pocket! Detoxing is a handy way to perk ourselves up, especially after a heavy weekend! Besides being mindful of what you eat, we’ve devised ‘A Lazy Girl’s Guide to Detoxing’, with some simple steps that make the difference. We know that this is a difficult feat for most, but caffeine is not as good a friend to you as you think! Caffeine may perk you up in the morning but you’re sure to come crashing down with a vengeance a couple of hours later. Instead, start your day with a green tea. While this may not give you the pizazz that coffee does, green tea is a hell of a lot better for you. It’s packed with antioxidants and boasts a number of health benefits, such as ridding the body of toxins. Or if you’re not a fan of green tea, try a glass or warm water with lemon slices as this will jump start your system and again, flush out toxins! You may feel like a mid morning, early afternoon coffee, but just don’t go there! For your drinks, stick to your green tea and water. Add some lemon slices, mint or cucumber to give your body a bit of a cleanse. Be vigilant with your vitamin intake. Vitamins are key for kick-starting a detox. Milk thistle is particularly good especially after one too many spritzers! It works at helping to cleanse and detoxify the body, and improve liver health. We’re huge fans of epsom salt baths and for good reason. Epsom salts help to pull out toxins from the body, easing muscle pain and helping to reduce water retention and stomach bloat. Give yourself a face mask for a pampering experience. Mud or clay masks are great as they suck out impurities and make your skin look super radiant! Try Botanics Shine Away Iconic Clay Mask.
