It’s no news that coconut oil promotes a wealth of health benefits, from gastronomical to beauty purposes! When buying coconut oil, it’s best to buy unrefined extra virgin coconut oil as it’s closest to it’s natural state. Below is a list of some handy homemade coconut oil beauty treatments with ingredients and instructions: 1. Whipped coconut butter lotion (via The Nourished life) – 1 cup of coconut oil – 1 teaspoon of Vitamin E oil (optional) – a few drops of essential oils Do not heat the coconut oil and whisk well with a kitchen aid or hand whisk.

3. Shaving cream (via Hello Natural) – ¼ cup of aloe vera (or use conditioner) – ¼ cup of coconut oil – 4-6 drops of essential oil (like lavender or peppermint, etc.) Melt the coconut oil and combine with other ingredients, then store in a plastic container. When using, lather on skin and let it sit for a couple of minutes before shaving. If the coconut hardens or separates between use, just use the steam from your shower to melt it. 4. Cheekbone highlighter  (via Live Strong) Coconut oil is used as a base in many makeup brands, so it’s only natural that it can be used as a highlighter. Swipe on your cheekbones, brow bones, bridge of your nose and cupids bow for a glowing look. 5. Homemade deodorant (via Coconut Mama) – ¼ cup of baking soda – ¼ cup of arrowroot powder – 4 tablespoons of coconut oil (soft and at room temperature) – ¼ teaspoon tea tree oil (optional) Mix all ingredients together until combined and store in an air tight container. You can melt and pour the deodorant into air tight containers. 6. Coconut rose lip balm (via My Baking Addiction) – 1/8 cup of coconut oil – ¼ cup of beeswax – 1/8 cup of shea butter – 1 tsp of coconut or vanilla extract – ¼ cup of rose petals (or any other petals of your choice) – 1 tsp of sweet almond oil Put all ingredients into a small saucepan and gently heat. Pour into air tight container and let cool for a couple of hours then use!
