Beauty Trend: Stripping
Say good bye to over contoured faces and strobed cheekbones, as there’s a new trend making heads turn. Unless your were born under a rock, you will know that 2015 was all about ‘Strobing’, however ‘Stripping’ is the next big thing for 2016. According to Elle, stripping is the new strobing and is a trend that was featured heavily on the spring/summer 2016 runways. ‘Stripping’ or ‘Sun Stripping’ involves strategically placing bronzer where the sun would naturally hit your face. With contouring we saw placement of bronzer in the hollows of the cheeks and down the sides of the nose to make your nose appear slimmer, however stripping is just as, if not more complimentary than contouring. This authentic look is definitely a new type of bronzing and goes against what we’ve previously been told, but apart from looking natural, it’s extremely flattering. So, how do I Strip?! Scroll below for some Stripping tips and products to create this subtle look:
T I P # 1. Similar to when your contour, use a bronzer without too much shimmer. Remember, you want this to look natural. We love: Benefit Hoola Bronzer.
T I P # 2. Use a flat brush, like this stippling brush from Real Techniques. You could alternatively use a more dense brush, like a kabuki brush, but for those with a heavy hand, a stippling brush will work in your favour. Simply dab into your bronzer and tap off the excess. You don’t want too much product on the brush as this can create harsh lines.
T I P # 3. Smile so that you can gauge where the fattest part of your cheek is, the apple, and starting from here draw a strip all the way to the apple of your other cheek in one continuous line, ensuring to go right across your nose.
T I P # 4. Buff buff buff! Probably the most important makeup tip that there ever was. Ensure that there are no visible lines and that your Sun Strip melts into the rest of your makeup seamlessly.
T I P # 5. If you need more bronzer, simply build up on it, ensuring to tap off excess and blend!
