London Collections Men Day 2: The Roundup
It’s day two of London Collections Men, the year’s most important event in menswear, where the designers take to the world’s stage to show us what we’ll be wearing come Spring/Summer 2017. Saturday’s highlight was the Nasir Mazhar show which hit the catwalk of the BFC showspace. For the collection the designer has injected colour into his usually monochrome androgynous looks. Primary reds, blues and greens seem to be a theme for this years shows. A welcome change for fashion lovers that have been waiting for the end to the long-lived all black everything trend. The distinctive style of Mazhar has not been lost, however, with the clothing remaining to be sporty, street style for fashion’s more active wearers. Many styles seemingly inspired by the adventurer. Think Bear Grylls and Laura Croft do high fashion. The event that directly followed was the invite only presentation of the MCM X Christopher Raeburn collaboration which marked the 40th anniversary of the luxury goods vendor. Special guests including will.i.am and Lucky Blue Smith with sister Pyper America as well as those at home who joined via the live stream. The event itself was a spectacle to watch, the models stood as optical flares were projected around them and seemed to be suspended in orbit. Each ensemble featured a sharper, redesigned camouflage print in shades of silver grey, canary yellow and ocean blue paired with navy and black and styled with the reworked classic MCM Visetos canvas bag pack and carry-all in matching vibrant hues.
