Love your imperfections

DEFECT
Difference is the source of the beauty, not the pre-supposed media standard.” – D.EFECT With the recent backlash campaigns against the unrealistic portrayals of beauty such as #ImNoAngel, clothing brand D.EFECT have put the spotlight on some of the stunning models that are presented to us in the media every day. The reason they did this was to show that, although we may think that these women seemingly look “perfect”, they too have insecurities and features that they would change about themselves in a heart-beat. We realise, when watching this video, that the art of airbrushing and photoshopping doesn’t only make the target audience miserable about unattainable beauty standards, but also makes the models feel even more insecure about what they already regard as their imperfections.  From uneven shoulders to bumpy noses, what D.EFECT aims to illustrate with this campaign is that none of us are perfect and that’s exactly why we are beautiful! It’s time to embrace our imperfections and break the pre-conceived notions of beauty. D.EFECT clothing brand was found in 2009 and is run by creative director Egle Ziemyte, a designer who has based her ideas on the notion of the beauty of imperfection. D.EFECT creates contemporary collections for women who can stand out by their sheer personality and who despise uniforms.
