Makeup hacks: How to get the most out of your old makeup

We all have old makeup lying around that’s fit for the bin. But, before you take the plunge and dump it all, check out these genius makeup hacks that you can do with old makeup, which will ensure you get the absolute most out of your beauty buys.
→ Coming to the end of your eyeshadow… … but still have some shadow clumped in the corner of your palette, don’t throw it out just yet! There are two things you can do with the remaining shadow, depending on the colour of course. If you have pink or bronze coloured eyeshadow left over you can crape out the remaining shadow and mix with a lip balm or vaseline, to create a custom made lip balm with a hint of colour. Or, if your remaining eyeshadow is black or dark brown, simply scrape a bit of shadow onto a small dish and mix the powder with your favourite primer to make a bespoke liquid eyeliner.  → Your mascara has gone clumpy… … but before you toss the whole thing in the bin, take the wand part out and get rid of the bottle. Clean the wand thoroughly with micellar water or a toner as this will remove stubborn clumps of mascara. Once cleaned, you’ll have yourself a handy eyebrow tamer to brush through the brows. Your clean mascara brush is also handy for brushing out any mascara clumps, ensuring your lashes look naturally fab.  → You only use 2 colours in your 12 piece eyeshadow palette… … but before you completely ignore the 10 shades you don’t use, know that you can make your own custom shade nail varnish! All you need is clear nail varnish and crushed eyeshadow. Give it a bit of mix and voila, a brand new nail varnish. → Your eyeliner pencil has dried up and feels like it’s scratching your skin around your eyes… … don’t give up on the pencil just yet! Simply hold a small flame over the nib of the pencil to soften the wax. The result will be as if it were brand new with a creamy application. Or, if you find that the pencil lead falls out every time you sharpen it, pop it in the freezer to firm the wax in the pencil back up.
