Are you your own biggest critic? Do you tend to put yourself down regularly? If so, then you need to start making steps towards loving yourself.  Many of us tend to beat ourselves up over things that are totally out of our control. This conditioning in turn leads us resenting ourselves – this needs to stop! Here are 5 tips on how to love yourself:   

Take care of your body

Drink plenty of water, get lots of sleep, eat your 5 a day, do a bit of exercise and use lots of suncream. They’re 5 easy rules to follow, once you start leading a healthier life you’ll be more likely to stick to it because you will feel so much better – physically and mentally.

 

Get out of your comfort zone

We are innately creatures of comfort, but there is a whole world of possibility out there – if only we weren’t so frightened to get out of our cosy rut. Getting out of your comfort zone allows you to grow and in turn you appreciate yourself more for what you did.

 

Treat yourself

Do something once a day that makes you feel good. Doesnt sound like much of a task – but many of us, through no fault of our own, forget to treat ourselves for our hard work. Treating yourself could mean a multitude of things, it could be getting a mocha, eating a slice of pizza, walking in the park at lunch, going to the cinema in the evening or even having a little Netflix binge. Do whatever makes you happy.
 

Reiterate what you love about yourself

What do you love about yourself? This doesn’t always have to correspond to one’s looks – it can encompass a whole multitude of possibilities. Maybe you love how intelligent you are, how athletic you are or maybe how you’ve been blessed with incredible hair. Whatever it is that you love about yourself, no matter how small, make a note of it and remind yourself that you are great.

 

Embrace the past

You might be embarrassed by your past self, maybe even angry – while that is normal, it is nothing more than reductive. Holding onto to this self resentment is damaging, accepting who you once were and where you are now will allow you to grow even more.
