How social media can make or break your blossoming relationship….

We’ve all had that post first date social media conundrum. Is adding them as a friend on Facebook too much? Following them on Twitter seems pretty innocent, right? Maybe we should just settle for the elusive Instagram follow. Just remember, the choices you make on social media in the hours after that first date could potentially ruin everything….

The Linkedin Connect

Oh. Hell. No. You’ve obviously become so desperate in a job hunt that you’ve started using dates as a networking opportunity. GET OFF THEIR LINKEDIN. And don’t even think about endorsing their customer service skills!

The Tricky Tweet

Surely a follow and a (public) mention on Twitter after the date is acceptable right? WRONG. Stop trying to make your ex jealous.

The Elusive Instagram Follow

Real life rules don’t apply here. A like on an Instagram photo could mean nothing, but it could also mean everything! Who knows? Who even cares? Everyone on IG is far too busy being a bowl of salad or a fitness model.

Tumbling on Tumblr

Oh you’re both just so alternative, and hopeless romantics. You connected over craft cider out of a copper tin in the basement of a sweaty underground club with the chilled beats of Ryan Hemsworth in the background. You simply couldn’t wait to get home, find their Tumblr and get a sneak peak into the inner sanctum of your potential second date’s mind. Get over yourselves, you met on Tinder.

Sneaky Snapchat

via GIPHY You don’t really want another date but never know when you’ll need a post-club cuddle. So you go for the non-committal snap-chat, occasionally sending a dog-earred, sticky out tongue snap which will have the receiver tearing their hair out as to whether this is a personalised declaration of love, or they’re just another box ticked in your “recents”. Cruel.

The Facebook Friend

The most generic of all the post first date social habits. A facebook friend request. The old reliable. And you finally have access to the gated “Summer Holiday ’12” snaps. Finally.
