Sandbags & Glad Rags

sandbagging
Sandbags are probably something you’d associate with icy roads or construction work, they’re not necessarily something you’d consider adding to your daily makeup routine. That is until, Mario Dedivanovic, makeup artist to the Kardashians, redefined the sandbag as we know it! The makeup hack involves applying a barrier of loose powder under the lash-line, as well as the lower lip and around the lips. The technique creates a barricade which restricts creamy or liquid products from flooding, in essence it acts as a sandbag.

The Sandbag Process

When applied correctly, nothing will break your sandbag barricade. Loose powder and a sponge are the only products you will need to build your barrier. Step 1: Using the sponge, apply the loose powder high under the lash-line and even on the lash-line to ensure that your kohl pencils, gel liners and creamy or  liquid products won’t smudge, crease or run. Step 2: Want smudge proof kissable lips all day long? Sandbagging is the answer. Repeat the process, this time focusing on the lower lip and the area around the lips. Step 3: Leave the powder on your lips and lash-line, while you finish your eye makeup and lippy. After a couple of minutes sweep away the excess and you’re good to go, safe in the knowledge that your makeup won’t smear, run or crease throughout the day.

Sandbagging Top-Tips:

frockadvisor suggest using a translucent powder to master sandbagging. The colourless powder will look more natural as it won’t create an excess highlight. Alternatively, you can choose a loose coloured-powder, a couple of shades lighter than your foundation, to set your sandbags and create a highlight.
