Say Hello to the Non-tour!
Just when we’ve mastered contouring and strobing, the beauty manual adds another chapter. Lately, celebs like Zendaya and JLo, along with gal pals Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid have been sporting a softer cheekbone. The girls have been ditching the heavy contouring products and opting for a lighter, more subtly sculpted face. The new makeup trend has been dubbed “non-touring” due to its focus on highlighting. The pared-back technique completely forbids the use of dark contouring products that we have attached ourselves to in recent years.
Luminate Like GigiLike strobing, the non-tour uses highlighter to enhance facial features. While the two techniques are similar, non-touring takes the subtle high-road. The aim is to create a dewy glow while allowing your skin to breathe, less is more when it comes to non-touring. Keep it natural, avoid piling on product. Follow Gigi’s example and keep your makeup natural while non-touring. A nude lip, a natural brow and a little mascara perfectly offsets your non-tour.

frockadvisor‘s top tip for conquering the non-tour: Find a highlighter to suit your skin tone.Lighter skin tones should browse the makeup aisles for highlighters with frosty pink undertones to avoid skin appearing orange. While darker skin tones should seek golden bronze highlighters. The goal is to create a healthy glow and to avoid appearing matte or dry. The non-tour is the perfect light and natural makeup technique for those hot, humid summer days when a dark contour will just melt off your face. To avoid your sculpted cheekbones streaking down your face, avoid dark and heavy contouring products. Opting instead for lighter more luminous products.

frockadvisor’s Non-Tour Instruction Manual:
#1 Prime Bright Like a DiamondFirst prime the face. We suggest avoiding a matte primer, even if your skin is oily select a dewy or luminous primer. Remember the goal is to create a dewy glow, not a flat matte. We suggest Flormar Illuminating Primer Make-Up Base to shine with the best of them.
#2 Ditch the SlapNext ditch the full coverage foundation and reach for the BB cream or a tinted moisturiser, the goal is to create a lighter look. Apply NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser to illuminate the face and add a touch of colour.
#3 Highlight to Create DimensionAdd a highlighting concealer to the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, cupid’s bow, brow bone and the inner-corner of the eyes, focusing mainly where the light hits your face naturally. We adore Touche Eclat from Yves Saint Laurent, the original illuminating concealer.
#4 Blend It!The last step to the non-touring process is BLENDING! Don’t forget to blend your non-tour to achieve a naturally fresh face. Pick up a blender sponge from Beautyblender to complete your glowy defined face.
