Top 5 Fashion Moments
Naomi Campbell falling on the catwalk: Probably the most famous fall in fashion history, the fierce supermodel, Naomi Campbell, took at tumble at Vivienne Westwood’s Paris Fashion Week Show SS94 show in 1993. She was no match for her ridiculously high lace up platforms but she carried her stumble with grace and laughed it off. The Supermodels: In January 1990, all the original pack of supermodels (Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Tatjana Patitz, Christy Turlington) were featured on the front cover of Vogue magazine wearing next to no make-up and still looking fabulous. This made such an impact on the fashion world that this stunning group came to embody the word supermodel. Coco Chanel’s LBD: Coco Chanel’s Little Black Dress in the 20’s was an iconic moment in fashion history and was where the infamous term LBD was coined. Before this event, it was only really acceptable to wear black in times of mourning but when Coco Chanel printed her creation in Vogue, the dress became accessible to all social classes, because who doesn’t look good in an LBD? Alexander McQueen’s Discovery: There are too many iconic McQueen moments to pick from so we decided to go for the moment when he was discovered by fashion Editor and icon, Isabella Blow. After this he was plucked from relative obscurity and dropped right into the big leagues where he belonged. When Isabella tragically took her own life he paid tribute to her in his 2008 collection. Kate Moss for The Face: via The Face The cover that launched a career. At 16 years of age, Kate Moss featured on a 1990 cover of The Face fresh faced, freckled and beautiful. The pictures were described as grungy and ignited a new trend of “waif” like models.
